BPG-InfoTech Smart Publisher//Pro is rich featured CMS (Content Management System) application. It can be used as eMagazine, EJournal, eNewsPaper, Site Front Page News. Application was designed having needs of scientific and structured publications (intensive and integrated usage of Publications) in the mind. For serious web sites, having valuable content, it is important to provide serious presentation of this content - especially if there are hundreds and thousands of Publications. At this stage primitive Categories / Sub Categories indexing is not enough - your site visitors can not easily and rapidly get information which can be valuable for them and web Editor needs more complex and effective - yet simple in use - indexing tools. BPG Smart Publisher // Pro is best instrument to serve such a goals.

Smart Publisher // Pro uses 3 different MS Access 2002 databases for storing Publications, Images and Files. Each of this databases can be up to 2 GB. Usage of different 3 databases makes backup and maintainance of yours data easier, response time of server shorter, and gives higher limit of common data storage - you can use up to 6 GB of data.
Smart Publisher // Pro was tested with web stress tools and gives satisfactory response time for medium sized and medium loaded web site. Web site containing 25 thousand publications and stressed on the level of 10-15 simultanious accessing attempts (simultaneous call of web page) - gives no more then 5-8 secs of server response time for list or detailed view web page.
Response time for page including 5-10 modules depends mostly on count of publications inside viewed Category or Sub Category. List of Publications for Categorie containing 10.000 records can take some 3-5 secs.; List of Sub Categorie containing 5.000 records can take some 3-4 secs. Detail view of Publication from Sub Category containing 5-15 thousand records can take some 2-3 ces. Tested on 1,3 Mhz decktop AMD Duron; 512MB.
BPG-InfoTech recommends to have not more 1.000-3.000 Publications inside one Sub Categorie and not more 10.000 Publications inside one Categorie. Better practice is to divide Categories and Sub Categories after they grow up - this is one click operation.
For effective support of huge databases (more than 25-50 thousand Publications) Smart Publisher // Pro has huge database support - various "fast tables" are produced after magor updates of publications. "Fast tables" can be also recreated after adding or deleting any Publication. Recreation of "fast tables" takes some 5-8 seconds, but improves performance greatly.
TECH NOTE: This machine, which is used for http://bpg.sytes.net/BPG-InfoTech web site - is not a server, but common 1,3M hz AMD Duron working decktop horse of Author connected to the web using 512/512 ADSL and IIS is working as backgound service - on real server performence is to be no less 2x better.
Note: With main downloads are included MS Access 2002 databases - but, application can work also with MS Access 2000 databases (also avaliable as separate download). MS Acces 2002 databases have better support for Unicode then 2000 databases. Access databases can be up to 2 GB. Usage of different 3 databases makes backup and maintainance of yours data easier, response time of server shorter, and gives higher limit of common data storage - you can use up to 6 GB of data.
Note: response time depends also on count of modules used on one page. Each module can use 0.3-0.5 secs for server response.
